The tetracycline antibiotic
can give permanent teeth a yellowish color.

An excessive amount of
fluoride can cause white spots on permanent teeth.

medications can contain the minocycline ingredient that can cause an area of black
pigmentation on gums and a gray
discoloration of teeth.

Chlorhexidine used to treat gum disease, can stain teeth.

Some drugs reduce the flow
of saliva and can cause a ‘dry mouth’ and increase the risk of tooth decay. Chewing

can help to protect your teeth and seek regular preventive dental care. Before
dental surgeries, tell your dentist about the medications you are taking.
